Oracle to offer Infrastructure as a Service

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said that Oracle will provide Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS) on its data centers soon. Customers can deploy Java based applications or Oracle Fusion apps on Oracle public cloud. Oracle also plans to offer database service for business reporting.

Oracle has lately been pushing for its appliances Exadata, Exalogic and Exalytics which incurs lot of capital investments up front. But Oracle’s cloud offering clearly indicates another choice for customers. If it is a big shop and wants to run big processing or consolidation, the customer can choose appliance based solution. But if the customer doesn’t want to spend lot of capital investment up front, then the choice is “the cloud”. So Oracle offering penetrates both big and small customers.

As we learn more about the Oracle cloud offering, we will cover here. For more details, visit www.oracle.com.
